FAQs

Can armored glass stop any and all bullets, no matter the weapon?

Armored glass is designed to resist specific calibers and withstand multiple shots, but it is not impervious to all types of ammunition. Our ACG glass exceeds NIJ 04 Level IIIA standards, offering protection against multiple rounds from calibers such as .25, .32, .38, 9mm, .40, and .45 ACP. It can endure up to 9 shots per square foot, compared to the standard NIJ requirement of 5 shots. However, it is not rifle-rated, meaning it won’t stop high-powered rounds like 7.62x39 MSC, 5.56 M855, and similar calibers.

What ballistic levels does ACG offer?

We offer NIJ 04 Level IIIA, which is equivalent to NIJ 07 Level HG2 and UL 752 Level 6.

Does armored glass behave like regular glass?

While ACG’s armored glass is designed to closely resemble the OEM (original equipment manufacturer) glass, our Level IIIA glass is 15mm thick and weighs 13 lbs. This is 3 times thicker and twice as heavy as OEM glass.  However, our research and development has ensured that these specifications won’t affect the functionality, such as the ability to roll the windows up and down.

Is armored glass as clear as regular glass?

Our front (driver and passenger) windows come with a medium tint, allowing about 25% light transmission, which is slightly darker than OEM glass.  The rear passenger windows are tinted to match the OEM specifications.

Does armored glass block sound more than regular glass?

While the thickness of armored glass may slightly reduce external noise, it is not specifically designed for soundproofing. Its primary function is bullet resistance.

Does armored glass remain intact after being shot?

Contrary to movie depictions, armored glass can crack, splinter, or shatter depending on the type and number of impacts. It is designed to prevent bullets from passing through, not to remain visually flawless.

Is armored glass only for high-security or expensive locations?

Armored glass from ACG is a premium product, designed for those who value both security and distinction.   While it has become more accessible, it remains an exclusive option that elevates the status of your vehicle. Installing ACG armored glass not only provides top-tier protection but also reflects a commitment to luxury and sophistication, making it a statement choice for those who seek the best.

How long does the installation process take?

Once your vehicle arrives at our Missouri shop, installation takes approximately five business days. However, please note there is currently a waiting list of about three months. Additional details will be provided at checkout.
